Essential Duties

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following essential functions:

  • Complete required hours and program requirements as outlined in agreement for paid internship.  Must work a minimum of 30 hours a week and report to work as scheduled.
  • Adheres to all current federal & state laws, as well as Trivium Life Services Policies and Procedures, including the safeguarding of confidential healthcare information and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Manage a caseload of (20-25) clients to include but not limited to follow up with clients, scheduling case management appointments, coordinating care and understanding of clients' attendance without direct supervision.
  • Achieved competencies and skills to provide therapy sessions to individuals and groups.
  • Complete client-focused service and treatment plans in accordance to company policies and procedures. 
  • Has successfully demonstrated the ability to complete initial diagnostic assessments on all clients assigned to determine treatment needs, as well as conducts ongoing assessments to determine when clinical goals have been achieved and service delivery is no longer indicated without direct supervision.
  • Develops initial treatment plans and updates treatment plans to include clinical interventions/objectives/goals that are observable and measurable.
  • Complete case management assessment and PO reports within required timeframe.
  • Coordinate resources and referrals with community partners to assist client in obtaining basic needs and other case management goals.
  • Monitor client drug testing as applicable. 
  • Proven ability to make professional and ethical decisions.
  • Maintain all client documentation in the electronic record within required timeline.
  • Attends staff/supervision/agency meetings and trainings as required.
  • Maintains all training requirements for Trivium Life Services.
  • Maintain open communication channels and keep leadership aware of client and/or staff support needs. 
  • Makes recommendations for program improvements.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships and communicate with clients, family members, and staff.
  • Contribute to developing an ongoing resource database and networking with community partners to build relationships while representing Trivium Life Services.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the employee is required to talk and hear and be fluent in the English language. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard.  The employee is often required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, and may kneel or crouch.  Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.


Working Conditions
Working conditions are normal for an office environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.  The intern will always be under supervision of an on-site licensed clinician.


Requirements/Qualifications

  • Must be a student in good standing with a graduate school internship program or other addiction studies working towards certification.
  • Pursuing a Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or a closely related field.
  • Basic personal computer skills required, experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Results of drug test, criminal and all other applicable background checks must meet Trivium Life Services standards.
