Position Description
Intensive Residential Services Home (IRSH) Supervisor

Essential Duties

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following essential functions:

Staff Supervision

  • Lead, as well as provide support and supervision to a team of assigned staff in support of persons served and ensure the implementation of their goals.
  • Establish high standards of conduct and job performance for the team; evaluate performance; provide individual and group supervision to include monthly 1:1 coaching and monthly team meetings
  • Build trust and partnership with employees to drive high performance, engagement, and a strong organizational culture.
  • Develop and communicate the scheduling for direct care staff to ensure supports are available to persons served.  Ensure staff ratio requirements are always met.
  • Ensure tracking and billing of direct service hours and ensure accuracy, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Assist in the hiring process by coordinating and conducting onboarding of new staff, as well as be involved in ongoing training opportunities in the form of regular staff and small group team meetings.  Ensure that all direct reports meet initial and ongoing training requirements.   
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed by the appropriate deadline - including but not limited to:  Review of Daily Documentation, GERs, Critical Incident Reports, Monthly House Checks, House Inspection Checklist; Home Based Training, Vehicle Inspections (and related maintenance) etc. 

Client Services

  • Effectively advocate for persons served both internally and externally and coordinate individual needs of persons served and maintain quality relationships and open communication channels with all stakeholders (Person served residential providers, employers, social workers, case managers, funders, families, guardians, staff, etc.) 
  • Supervise the area of medication management and oversee execution of medication management plans.
  • Support staff in the implementation of behavioral plans.
  • Ensure timely documentation of client interactions and support interventions in the form of progress notes, incident reports, communication log, and other as needed and instructed by direct support staff. Be responsive to and provide emergency intervention for all persons receiving supports. Coordinate with direct care staff and ensure the scheduling of clients' medical appointments, including transportation.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

  • Must be familiar with all HIPAA regulations and employ safeguards as directed by HIPAA laws and the Trivium Life Services Compliance Officer.
  • Must have a valid Chauffeur's license (or equivalent) and maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Trivium Life Services auto insurance company.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.

Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of the IRHS Supervisor job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to assist in transferring persons served using 1, 2, or 3 persons transfers as specified in each Person-Centered Plan. Vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision.

Working Conditions

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.  Work will require weekend and/or evening work as needed.  Occasional conditions will vary as it will be necessary to be in various locations, homes of persons served, their families and funding agencies.  The employee must be able to travel between locations, and occasionally attend seminars which may require an overnight stay.

Requirements/Qualifications

To perform the IRSH Supervisor job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily.

 The IRSH Supervisor will have the following experience and attributes:

  • Associates Degree and two years' experience in working with people with disabilities, mental health needs, or substance use disorders in a service delivery related field.  Two years of additional experience in human services or a supervisory role may be substituted for an Associate's Degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in strong organizational and analytical skills; and demonstrate the ability to organize, manage and execute responsibilities under limited time frames within a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Must obtain Medication Manager certification within six months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in human services related field
  • Two years' experience in supervision of staff or a minimum of 15 college credit hours in a management/supervisory field obtained through an accredited college.
  • Experience supervising in a supported community living program, group home, residential treatment, or other group behavioral health treatment environment.
  • Specialist Certification from The National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD) or willingness to obtain within first year of employment.
  • Demonstrated experience of strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and management skills (managing people, processes, and projects) with a focus on program coordination, staff development, and support to those vital employees delivering care to persons with disabilities.
